OSAKA : Experience these

By Cahaya Asia -

Shopping and restaurant areas

Modern Osaka offers plenty of shops, restaurants, karaoke bars, love hotels, packed shopping centers – all advertised with bright neon lights.

Shopping and restaurant areas

The Umeda shopping and restaurant hub is located in the very center of Osaka, continuing underground from the street. Slightly south of the center is Namba, considered the second center of Osaka.

Japan's densest bar area is located in the underground street of Namba, which is a few kilometers long. Den Den Town, the flashing Japanese heaven of electronics, is also located in Namba.

(Shopping) culture
The Tennoji area, close to Namba, hosts a traditional Japanese park, and within the park you will find the Shitennoji temple, which is the oldest in the country. Even here, shopping opportunities aren’t far away, although the shopping center is located underground.

Osaka’s harbor offers good shopping and unforgettable experiences
The city’s Kaiykan harbor is definitely worth a visit. Here you will find one of the world's largest aquariums and the word's biggest Ferris wheel. There are several shopping centers, shops and services in the vicinity of the harbor.

Culture and places of interest

The most visible landmark in Osaka is the Umeda Sky Building, where two giant towers connect at the top, while an escalator runs between them, as if floating in mid-air.

Osaka Castle
The castle, built in the 16th century, is located only a few kilometers or a couple of subway stops from the city center. On Sundays, amateur bands play in the castle park, which is well worth seeing.

Take a train outside the city center
Shirahama, a charming spa town, is located on the south side of Osaka. In the south you can also find the temple mountain of Mount Kōya, as yet untouched by modern Japan. True lovers of ancient Japan spend the night at the temple. To the north of the city center is the Minoh area, famous for the national park and its monkey population.

Tsutenkaku and Shinsekai in old Osaka
The symbol of old Osaka is still the observation tower Tsutenkaku. It is located in the old center, in an area called Shinsekai, (“the new world”), which to some extent is stuck in the 1970s. Tsutenkaku and Shinsekai are definitely sights to be seen. The Tennoji zoo is also nearby.

Nakanoshima
The Osaka Science Museum is centrally located in Nakanoshima, the old city center, with its city hall. The area is actually an island between the Dojima River and the Tosabori River. It is connected by bridges to the rest of the city.

Which do you prefer, Charlie Brown or Schwarzenegger?
The amazing Universal Studios theme park is located close to the city center. Hollywood stars seem to run straight at you as you watch the shows at the park wearing special 3D glasses.
